Artwork tonight from Don Dixon.

I’m ending this year much the way I spent the majority of it; working. Working hard.

I have one more day like today, and then the year is done. I’m not exactly sure, actually how I want to handle work next year, but that’s something I’m going to put some thought into. I have already, but you know…more 😛

Coops is right up next to me right now falling asleep. I invited him to come up for some snuggles, and he accepted the invitation. Maybe we’ll make this a regular thing, this cuddling in bed before sleepy times. He usually puts himself down at the end of the bed. I know that’s where he’ll situate himself eventually, but right now, he’s enjoying the snugs.

Broke my short story down today into each scene and spent a good half hour reviewing the submissions guidelines for the contest. Tomorrow, I’m going to write down all my notes for each of the scenes, what I need to fix, and then tackle that over the next few days. I think I can have another draft by the end of the weekend if I keep my head down and stay focused. It’s only 30 pages, after all. Nothin.

Watched the last quarter or so of Season 2 of the X-Files today. Season two is SO GOOD. So good. Get to watch some of Season 3 tomorrow. Oh, and I also watched American Sniper during my meal times today, and then finished it after I wrapped up work for the day. It was really, really good. Like, for reals. I do totally recognize why so many liberal types (like myself) took issue with the subject matter…but, if you just take the movie for what it was, a story of this one man’s life, particularly his experiences in Iraq…it’s a masterfully done film. It’s tense, moving, exciting, interesting, artful…it was really, really good. Except for the damn fake baby.

Coops just sighed, which means it’s time for the sleeps. Going to bed ever more on time tonight than last night! Huzzah!

Really looking forward to getting back into the writing rhythm I had before the holidays, y’all…it’s a nice place to be. I want to get there.

Goodnight.
