Oof today was a long, long day. But a *good* day.

This schedule is tough in terms of how much actual work I aspire to get done, but it is also wonderful. I work late, but the break I take in the middle of the day is *genius*. And scientifically proven to be a good idea! In the book I’m reading, Anders Ericsson, the scientist who wrote the book, talks about how in his studies that the top performers all got good sleep in his studies, and the TOP of those performers took naps in the afternoon.

I know…it *sounds* super indulgent and there is a certain shame attached with taking a nap in the afternoon…but there shouldn’t be. I am SO MUCH MORE PRODUCTIVE during the early-to-evening hours if I have a nap. It’s impossible to quantify, but it’s true. I might never go back to any other schedule. For reals. It’s enabled me to get twice as much writing done.

So, that’s my advice to you: if you run your own schedule and/0r your workplace allows such things…take a nap in the afternoon. After lunch works for me. Might be different for other people, but if you can swing it, even for 20 minutes, DO IT. Science backs it up, yo. Naps are good for the mind.

I podcasted tonight with Josh. We started in on Season 3. We’re going to take a break for a couple weeks, actually, and recharge our batteries a bit, but season 3 has begun. And started off better than I remember, actually. The first couple episodes were a lot more fun than I remember…or at least one of the two of them is. The other I always remember enjoying. The other is almost universally despised…but I’ve always had kind of a soft spot for it. Josh enjoyed the episodes too.

Anyway…I did my work, did my writing. The only thing I *didn’t* do today was my writing because I had to walk the dogs an hour early since Josh was coming to Trek it out, and so I had to bump something. Writing was the thing.

Sleepy now. Good night!
