I was born on the 13th, so the only superstitions I have about today’s episode number are good ones. Awesome show today, as always – D. Ramirez, one of the biggest selling artists of the past year plus, is on the show today talking about his latest remix of a classic track as well as our good friend Nick Stoynoff, who talks about his latest out on friskyRecords.

Also featuring music from Michael Woods and Moguai, Adultnapper, John Digweed & Nick Muir, and much more!

1. Adultnapper – Gold and Forgetting [Poker Flat Recordings]

Love the the mellow feel of this one from Francis Harris, the man behind the electronica-wise techno act Adultnapper. He’s always been good at taking the stripped down minimalist tech house style and making it interesting. The pads and strings speak volumes on this track, and the groove is just the right complement. Out on Poker Flat, the frequent home of fellow electronica maverick Trentemoeller.

2. John Digweed & Nick Muir – Satellite [Bedrock]

It’s been a while since these two have gone under their original Bedrock moniker, but neither of them needs introduction. The two original Bedrock studio partners are at it again in stunning form. The hints of Blade-runner Vangelis-type synths when used on such a thought-provoking melancholy background will never get old. Superbly crafted percussion, as is their specialty, also stand out on a track that has a timeless quality; it’s perfectly suited for today’s progressive techno, but could easily fit straight into a classic Diggers “GU:Los Angeles” type mix comp from 10 years ago. Top notch Fresh stuff from a pair of legends still doing what they do best.

3. Fady Ferraye – Pleasure Delayed (Nick Stoynoff remix) [friskyRecords]

Nick Stoynoff, a name that you’ll be hearing more and more very soon has really outdone himself on this remix of Lebanese progressive star Fady Ferraye. The young gun from Chicago has been getting some attention lately, a track recently on the “Global Sessions Summer” on Black Hole Recordings, and it’s easy to see why. His chunky basslines and warm synths come together in a combination that very chic and effortless. He’s in top form on “Pleasure Delayed”.

4.  Khomha – The Magikh [Baroque]

Well I wish I could say I’ve been a long-time watcher of this up and coming talent, but before about a month ago, I’d never even heard of Robert Alzate aka “Khomha” – but he’s *everywhere* right now, and for good reason, his unique blend of incredibly tight bass and drumlines combined with explosive build-ups and trance-inspired crescendos has landed him smack dab in the middle of the chart race to #1.  “The Magikh” is slightly more restrained, but nonetheless chunky enough to make the club bounce, and it seemed a perfect introduction to an artist that is literally lighting it up right now.

5. Dave Seaman & Funkagenda – The Mighty Ming (D. Ramirez remix) [Toolroom Records]

A classic classic track, The Mighty Ming has been pulled from retirement at D. Ramirez behest to once again rock the more groovy-inclined house heads out there. D. Ramirez is undeniably one of the hottest producers on the planet, and the range of sound that flows from his finger-tips is astonishing – just compare this track to another of his further on in the program. This is him at his funky best, and you can’t help but move your hips.

6. Hausjacker – Circus Freak [Cr2 Records]

Another true up-and-comer, Leeds production prodigy Hausjacker has one original to his name…ONE! And it’s a standout on of the biggest summer compilations of the year, Cr2 records blasting “Ibiza 2010” compilation that has been dominating the charts for the past two months. As his own site proclaims, he holds the maturity of an established international DJ/producer. Watch this guy, much more to come, that’s for sure.

7. Bryan Kearny & Timmy & Tommy – Loco Motive (Weekend Heroes) [Full Tilt Recordings]

The Irish pairing of Brian Kearny and the label-bosses for Full Tilt Timmy & Tommy benefit from some spot-on A&R’ing with this one, “Loco Motive” with a killer remix from Fresh Produce staples Weekend Heroes. The bassline isn’t as pronounced as we’re used to, but the melody is little wider which makes for a nice change of pace. A little more drama never hurt anyone, in fact it tickles us. The track is making a re-appearance here on their “Progressive Tilt Vol. 1” compilation EP.

8. Underworld & D. Ramirez & Mark Knight – Downpipe (Original Club Mix) [Toolroom Records]

It’s almost a year old and still one of the biggest tracks of the summer, this time finding some new life on the “21 Years of Gio-Goi” mixed compilation from label-boss Mark Knight and Graemme Park. You want a clinic on proper production method, just listen to this masterpiece. The vocals from Underworld front-man Karl Hyde get a big big boost from probably the warmest deepest sound bassline and the most piercing kicks and synth stabs we’ve ever heard…An instant classic.

9. Moguai – Oyster (Michael Woods remix) [mau5trap]

Surprisingly, it’s been a while since mau5trap had a top 10 hit. Not surprisingly, it comes from our nominee for producer of the year Michael Woods. An absolutely HUGE peaktime remix of one of the standouts from Moguai’s recent artist album “Oyster”. Not only is the drive relentless, the pitch bending whine is unreal. A huge track. Might be #1.

10. Moguai – Oyster (Live at Brixton re-edit) [mau5trap]

If you’ve been hanging around beatportal or youtube at all, you’ve probably seen a video or two from Moguai’s recent album tour all across europe – our last track today comes directly from that tour as the title suggests, and we like it even better than the original. Simple melody support by some superb arrangements and driving backbone. A nice respite from Woods’ monster, that’s for sure.
