Peak Time, it’s the time of night where the layers come off, the alcohol takes its hold, and the DJ’s throw down the biggest weapons in their arsenal. It’s the theme of the show, and today doesn’t hold a single subtle bone in its body. Sultan & Ned Shepard have remixed one of the biggest weapons of the summer, and they’re on the show today to talk about it.

1. Umek – OMGWTF [1605]
His name is simply Umek, the Slovenian techno giant who has been steadily rising in prominence in the fickle world of the underground. Well he’s certainly arrived, as this cheekily-named little number has shown. Already a #1, it’s a big win for his own 1605 – Music Therapy imprint, which has similarly arrived in a big way with some of the years best talent and most consistent chart presence. Love the title, love the track. We’re not wasting any time today, let’s get it started!

2. Mikas – Tempermental (Manuel de la Mare remix) [Progressive Grooves]
This Canadian native takes the term “self-made” to another level. He created his own Progressive Grooves imprint 5 years ago which has since hosted some of the biggest talent in the scene, all remixing or being remixed by the label boss. Well, Mikas is celebrating 100 releases with some of the best, and this monster from Manuel de la Mare certainly qualifies. Crazy crazy good kick drum and a wicked crescendo…it’s from Manuel de la Mare, what did you expect?

3. Sun Control Species – Yaban [Iboga Records]
Brand new, hot off the press, and climbing quickly up the charts is a slice of what Iboga records does best. Sun Control Species is back, and making old-school-minded progressive sound chic again with some wicked bassline work. It’s warm, fuzzy, and massive. Outstanding composition take this to another level, and it’s a refreshing sight. A producer to keep your eye on.

4. Dinka – Camoflage (Helvetic Nerds remix) [S2 Records]
The reigning progressive queen gets back-up from her fellow Swiss on this chunky number. Helvetic Nerds once again flex their low-end muscles and twist what was once a melodic drifter into a peak time floor-filler. It’s out on S2, which is also Swiss by no coincidence, and it’s easy to see the writing on the wall. Move over Dutch, the Swiss are here to stay.

5. Weekend Heroes – Sidewinder [Plusquam Records]
Weekend Heroes, a staple to the Fresh Produce diet, are back with yet another stormer. Their skill with bassline massiveness never ever ceases to amaze me. After all, what is more peak time than bass? Perhaps a good crescendo, but then, this track has that too. Huge track from the Israeli pair.

6. Sirens – Stilettos (Jerome Isma-ae’s Louboutin remix) [Nervous Records]
Up-and-coming UK female trio Sirens gets the all-star club treatment on this track from Jerome Isma-ae, who takes this very very pop original number and condenses it down to driving dancefloor destructions…yes that’s lot of d’s, but it’s true. Very little of the original left here, but it doesn’t matter because it’s hot.

7. Faarsheed feat. Cari Golden – Daniel (Matan Caspi & Irad Brant remix) [Pacha Recordings]
Not to be confused with the Elton John song, the original of this has been working its way around the trance circuit all year long. A pair of up-and-coming Israeli producers, something that we’ve been saying often these days, Matan Caspi and Irad Brant boil it down a bit for the edgier crowd, favoring a rolling bassline and stabbing synths over the more grandiose melody and vocals. It’s a surprisingly good track, certainly has our attention.

8. Simon Pagliari & B-Cube – Take a Breath Away (Instrumental remix) [Date Records]
So it may or may not be a typo, but “Take a Breath Away” is definitely a monster. Huge huge percussion and drive with a surprising melody line, that’s just quirky enough key-wise to work in a standout way, far overshadow a questionable airhorn. The track has just the right amount of whitenoise and reverb to scream big room, and today that’s what we’re all about.

9. Underworld – Always Loved a Film (Michael Woods Dub mix) [Om Records]
Well Om records has scored another huge single from the Underworld boys and really done the release well with some brilliant remix work, particularly from Michael Woods. He mentioned this one right here on the show a few weeks ago and here it is in all it’s filtered glory. We even opted to play the dub version today to really show off his work. Love love love this grittier, more growling take on a very breezy original. It’s peak-time madness to wave your hands at…go ahead, we are.

10. Kaskade – Fire in your new shoes (Sultan & Ned Shepard remix) [Ultra]
Finally! After much hullaballoo it’s out – on our short list for track of the summer, and most certainly one of the best this year, Sultan & Ned do some major MAJOR work on what was already a stand-out track. Their added repeating melody line is pure platinum encased gold, and their crescendo makes my hairs stand on end. If you were at the Electric Daisey Carnival, you head it in its full glory first hand. If you weren’t, just go out to the clubs this weekend…it’s everywhere. DJ Geisha calls it the deathstar…sounds about right to us. Massive track and a must-have!
