Killer show to kick of the last month of year – December is upon us. Hope everyone in the states had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. It’s crunch time for year-end releases, and it’s just getting heated up out there, some huge stuff out the pipeline already.

Buenos Aires native and Maltan Deepfunk team up on a deliciously done slice of deep progressive. It’s appearing on friskyRecords’ “Sol Solar EP” which was put together in partnership with the Argentinian talent management group of the same name. Love how this one is able to float on top and drive on the bottom – top notch work from Deepfunk especially.

Surprising to say, but this really Guy J’s first big release of the year. He did have “Skin” out a couple months back on the Plastik Philosophy compilation, but that was restricted to “album only” status, which most certainly means it will get its own full release some time in the near future. But it’s been worth the wait – incredible mood and composition as always. He’s certainly made a habit of saving his brightest gems for the Bedrock catalogue.

There was a time about two years ago when James Harcourt was king of the prog world, or at the very least royalty. And it’s not that he’s dropped off necessarily, simply that he dabbled in other circles. Well he’s back to his old tricks, and it’s massive. Quite possibly my personal favorite of the day, it’s a soaring little slice of that techno progressive hybrid we so enjoy. Superbly done and a welcome return from one of the scene most exciting talents.

AlterImage, one of the more hustling labels out there at the moment, has made a big step in the right direction with their latest “Magnify” single from Cid Inc. who has been on a downright breakneck pace of late. The original seems to scream for a Quivver remix, it’s so much in line with his taste level. The remix delivers exactly how you’d hope. Wonderful to see these two pair up, something we’d like to hear again.

The artist list on this is a mouthful, that’s for sure. To decode, Lissat & Voltaxx are a German duo being joined by the combined forces of UK natives Paul Thomas and Russell G. It’s all the rage right now to be sampling and re-doing New Wave cuts from the 80’s and 90’s, Queen in this case, not all of them necessarily worth the re-listen. This one is for the simple fact that it’s heavy in all the right places and guaranteed to get butts on the dance floor.

Fast becoming a fan of ThreeSixty, the Manchester duo Dave Muirhead and Kirk Shiels who are on the short-list of the likes of Funkagenda, Pan-Pot, and other luminaries. Their recent turn into the more melodic side of techno has been well-recieved and for good reason. “Access” is a tightly wound, exceptionally simple example. It’s being featured on Babylon Records “Mighty Techno Music” compilation.

The break-out Israeli duo Weekend Heroes launches their own imprint Weekend Music with this rocking release, the type that’s put them on the map this year; basslines and pads. The chunky original is kicked up a notch by the more driving big room stylings of Sebatian Krieg and Roman F. It’s a very solid first release from a pair we expect big things from.

She’s the pentultimate model of things to come – self-made to the max, gig-hustling like the dickens, and calling the shots with own Pretty Mess imprint, a brand that she’s pasting everywhere she can. She’s got the trend right, as she does the production duo of Sultan & Ned Shepard who have an incredible nack for appealing to the pop set as well as the underground. It’s a massive track…and we expect nothing less from these two.

Remember a month or so ago when we said Moonbeam was officially back. Ya, this should remove any doubt. Not only are they giving legendary The Crystal Method the remix treatment, the original is also an absolute bomb by the way, they’re outshining the likes of Richard formerly quoted “Humpty” Vission. No small feat. The Crystal Method also keep themselves current Miami Bitch-style with vocals from the LMFAO lads…very cheeky indeed.

Ending the day today with a stomper, one that those with their ear to the ground, or any club in existence about a year ago anyway, or even those who’ve seen Fincher and Sorkin’s latest triumph “The Social Network” will recognize. Vocals from Steve Edwards just risque enough to titillate the crowd and chunk prog-house hook that majorly thumps. What you may not know is that it’s actually a remake…look up the band Cassius if you’re feeling frisky.
