Today marked a goal met (almost). I qualify with the “almost” because I still, technically, have one more video to finish to wrap up April. But, I still say a “goal met” because that’s exactly what I did today, and it would have been physically impossible to get another video done in these last couple work binges. I’ve squeezed out everything I could possibly squeeze from these last couple days. I’ve hit my limit.
It sounds like a bad thing, but it’s not, actually. It’s like knowing just how far you can run your car on “empty” without actually running out of gas. I know, now, what can actually be done in a day. I hit 24 minutes completed today, I think it was 23 yesterday…both left me completely wiped out afterwards. Now I know. That’s the physical limit I can manage in a day. That’s up and moving from 8:30 in the am to midnight. No naps. Just eating and taking care of the Coops.
Now I know.
I’ve officially fallen in love with Brahms. I was listening today to his Double Concerto in A minor (yes, I realize how fucking yuppie that sentence fragment is) and it really riled me up. I needed it at the time, too, because I was hitting that lull after lunchtime where all you want to do is curl up and sleep for 40 years. It has this refrain in it, the opening few notes that get repeated a few times…but it’s the way Brahms did it that gives me freaking chills. He has the orchestra wind down to complete silence, and the BAM. Full volume. It must be an awesome experience to hear it in person, in a concert hall. And he does it, like, three times in the piece. That, and the dueling solos are impressive. A very energetic piece, which I read, apparently wasn’t well received at the time. Anyway…it’s the second “classical” piece that I’ve ever really fallen in love with. “The Moldau” is the first, courtesy of the Ho.
The A’s also won today, which was especially gratifying because it was against the Rangers, who are most certainly our primary concern in back-to-back-to-back AL West division titles. Our pitcher, Sonny Gray, went the whole game and threw a 3-hit shutout. I didn’t watch but a couple innings while I ate some food, as shame since it was on ESPN and I like to see the A’s getting nation-wise exposure, but it certainly SOUNDED like Sonny was un-hittable. If he continues to develop into a full-blown ace, it would me A LOT to the long-term success of our club. I still stand by the fact that we need to add another ace-type starting pitcher, and a power bat in order to go as deep as we want in the postseason…which is all the way.
I’m telling you, this team is stacked. I want us to win a World Series. World Series or bust.
Okay…I’m out.
Today was monumental. I set a goal, and I reached it. Tomorrow, is rest. Then, the next day, we’ll do some real talk about setting the next goals. And we move forward 🙂
Sweet dreams.
