Today was an adventure, that’s for sure.
I guess I should clarify, it wasn’t an adventure in the sense that I, like, went looking for treasure and flew a rocket ship. Which would be awesome.
I more mean an adventure in that I wasn’t really sure what was next to do from moment to moment.
For starters, it was hot as balls. Like, holy bejesus. It’s mother-effing May, and it’s triple digits here in LA. That’s not fair. Then, today was day number one for the Ira-Matt Summer Workout Extraveganza which literally had me almost throwing up in my hallway bathroom. Yup. I am out of shape. Big time. But, you have to start somewhere, right? I’ve been here before. It sucks. But, getting past it and getting to that point where you can crush a workout is totally worth it. Yes…I did just use the word “crush” in the context of working out…I might as well just start wearing shorts all the time with a polo and the collar flipped up.
So, that was intense.
I took a brief nap, and then ate some food and watched some of the A’s game. Frustrating loss, especially since we had the lead going into the 8th inning. But, Chi Sox have the best offense in baseball, and we shut them out the day before, and this game was for the sweep. So, you can’t complain too much about that. Still, it would have been nice. And, it really shows that the weakness of this team is the bullpen. Yes, we do have the lowest bullpen ERA in the AL, and the most bullpen wins…but we also have the most bullpen losses. You could argue that the ERA speaks louder than wins and losses, and it really shows that they are as good as they were billed to be, it’s just some bad luck. I, however, am a bit more of a pessimist; I see that even though our bullpen has the lowest ERA in the league, they’re still finding ways to account for HALF of the losses that A’s have suffered so far this year. And, that’s not good. That’s us, our bullpen, potentially at its best, and they’re responsible for half of the games we lose. What happens when the bullpen struggles?
These are the things that I think about at midnight 😛
Then, I had a headache, which has stuck with me pretty insistently since then. I drank a bunch of water, took allergy meds, still there. I think it’s just my body agreeing with my head, which is like this heat is ridic.
I took the coops on a walk and caught up with my moms, she’s doing great. Then, we trekked downtown, the Ho and I, to see Matt for his birthday. He was having drinks with friends at The Edison, which is suuuuch a cool bar. Way overpriced, and the crowds on the weekend (they say) are too much, but on a Wednesday night, it was perfect. It’s down in the old boiler room of a turn-of-the-century building. So freaking cool. My cocktail was good, too.
Then, it was back home, some homemade spaghetti courtesy of Liz and Blue Apron, some Billy on the Street, and then running the scene for her audition tomorrow a few times.
And, now, it’s time for the sleeps. Tomorrow is another wacky day, but I’ll also be able to get some good stuff done too. Peace!
