I’m reading a script right now for a certain straight-to-DVD franchise. It’s for an audition on Tuesday, and oh, I wish I could write more about it here, but I can’t. This being a public blog and all. It’s pretty entertaining, though.
I do honestly have to hand it to the people who write these kinds of movies. Writing a screenplay isn’t easy in any arena, and the action-flick straight-to-DVD segment is no exception. You still have to fill 120 or so pages, and make them entertaining. It must also be a little fun, given you know that your audience isn’t expecting shakespeare and you can take some liberties.
Anyway, today was a busy one. Wall to wall happenings. Started off with getting some editing work done, then it was straight into a couple hours of wedding-prep activities. After that, it was straight with the Coops to his agility class, then the Ho and I had an impromptu dinner at Vitello’s Express down the street from agility. It’s a place that we pass literally every week, and we’d never been there. It was pretty good, although we both agreed it was no Pitfire Pizza. Pitfire, to be fair, is in a class all its own. Then, once home, I went straight to Ralph’s for groceries for the week, then off to write my pages…and then I sat down to memorize. That was followed by a quick dinner, brushed my teeth, and now here I am. It was freaking wire to wire today. Non-stop.
And now, that’s all I’m writing. I have to finish reading this script. Perhaps, if I book the damn thing, I can write more about it. We’ll see.
