Today was a bit of a disaster on the work side of things ๐
I can say that with humor because I know the I’ll feel better tomorrow after a full, normal, uninterrupted work day. Unless something comes along to hijack it, but I don’t think that’s going to happen. I have faith. And just one good work day is all I need to feel like I’m right back on track.
This is the sprint, guys. I feel ready, believe it or not. Today notwithstanding. I feel ready. Amped up, even. My ducks are in a row, waddling right behind me all cute a fluffy. Seriously, how freaking cute are ducklings? So cute.
The writing today was baller. Lots of stuff happening. I’m in a sprint with that, too. Everything. The last four weeks of the year. Two and a half before we close up shop here in LA and head up north for the holidays. I think I have about another 60 pages to go on the novel. Just enough time to get out of this particular scrape, and then the next one for the book one cliffhanger. Not the way I’d envisioned it, to be honest, but I’m embracing it. Who doesn’t love a cliffhanger? That moment in the plot where everything is just fucked, and you can’t possibly imagine that your heroes could possibly get out of it…makes you want to read the next book ๐
That’s the idea, anyway. We’ll see how it goes.
Tonight’s entry is getting posted early. Super early. That’s because I’m wiped out ๐ And not in a feeling depressed kind of way, as it seems often happens when I sit down to write these. No, I actually feel content. Resolved. This shit I’ve decided I want to do, I’m going to do. I am doing it all. It may take a little longer with some twists and turns here and there…but it IS getting done. Editing work. Writing. Apartment stuff. It’s all getting done.
It’s a nice feeling to have.
Our friend Dayna got a dog tonight. A French Bulldog from Lucky Puppy. She’s definitely skittish around other dogs, especially outside on a leash, but she looks like an absolute sweetheart. Definitely going to be a handful, I can tell. Bulldogs are…well, they’re bullish, aren’t they? Stubborn. Don’t like to be told what to do. But, that’s what makes them so wonderful at the same time, doesn’t it? That they have such personalities, and they’re so appreciative when they have someone come along who can make them feel safe and taken care of. We’re very excited for Dayna and Matty. I think they’re going to love being puppy parents. And, they’re going to get an earful of advice from the Ho and I. We can’t help ourselves.
Let’s see…still have a vacancy in the building. Haven’t filled it yet. Hoping that happens soon. Lots of little maintenance stuff here and there that needs to be done, but nothing too crazy. It is the little stuff, though, that can weigh me down sometimes. I have to make sure that doesn’t happen.
Okay, so here’s a thought for 2015…I want to watch Hitchcock. Like, all of them. From beginning to end. How cool would that be, right? Maybe that’s what I’ll do in January. I plan to take a week off to start the year. Do some organizing. Planning. Etc. Play some golf. I can’t freaking wait ๐
Okay, that’s all for now, y’all. I’ll see you tomorrow.
