I had a solid work day today. The first of 2015. It wasn’t quite a rock star day, I probably could have finished a good two hours before I actually did if I had been “operating at peak efficiency”…but, the reality is that I had my first full work day of the year, and I got everything done that I needed to get done. It’s a new years miracle.
I’m still feeling ever-so-slightly under the weather, so I’m trying to take it easy on the stress. Not let myself get too bent out of shape, since that certainly seems to be what triggers me to have the full-on sickness. That, and I’m being super fucking vigilant about taking allergy meds and cough syrup at night. Whatever it is, it hasn’t gotten worse, and that’s a win. If I can keep things on task, by gods, I’ll be at least two months ahead of where I was last year when I finally figured my shit out. NOT happening this year, no sir. I missed a week. That’s it. That’s where it ends.
I also planned out my projects through June. I’m afraid I’m not going to get quite as much done as I’d really wanted to, BUT it’ll still be a fuckload more than I’ve ever done before. If I can stay roughly on task, I should be able to get a nice polish on my current pilot script just in time for staffing season, and then I can power through (job or no job) my next two pilot script ideas. This means two drafts on each, with time for outlining, and rewrites. Ie- they should be in send-out-able condition by June. That’d be major fucking progress. Hell, if I can just get through ONE pilot script it’d be major progress, seeing as it’s going to have taken me a year to get this first pilot script out.
Assuming that all happens to plan, or really just the way that it WILL, whatever that may be…I then get to start writing my next novel in July. I have high hopes of getting through TWO novels in the second half of this year, but we’ll see what time allows. There are 184 days from July 1st to December 31st. That’s 16 days shy of the requisite 200 days necessary to write two novels back-to-back at 3 pages a day for 100 days. It’s not quite doable, methinks. A better plan may be to write the next novel, and then go back to the scripts and pump out a spec script of an existing show, since that will be something that I don’t have in my bag of tricks. I’m not sure. We’ll see what happens. Hell, there may even be interest in Starstuff out there from somebody, and I’ll need to focus on writing the second book of the series. I think even planning out 6 months is a little bit dicey, but it felt good to sit down and do it today.
Liz is out the living room right now watching Buffy: The Vampire Slayer on Netflix. What a magical thing that is, Netflix. Being able to watch entire series at a whim. It was something I dreamed of being able to do when I was a kid. The people who had the entire series of TNG on VHS were my freaking idols. I would have killed to have a set like that. I even tried to make my own, recording dozens and dozens of tapes from the re-runs they’d show in the late 90s of all the Trek shows. That was back when DS9 and VOY were in their initial runs. What I’m saying is that Netflix is pretty fucking cool, ya dig?
That’s all for tonight. I’m sliding into bed early. I had a really good night’s sleep last night according to my Jawbone UP 😛 Let’s see if I can duplicate it tonight. Tomorrow’s day of work is going to be a little more challenging, and I don’t want to shirk it. I want to crush it. Keep this gravy train moving!
Good night!
