Artwork tonight from Les Edwards. It’s a piece really made for me by the size of the man in the bottom right of the painting, which I recommend you skip on over to the tumblr version to see in its entirety 😉
Man, today was kind of all over the place.
Started off with a *bunch* of apartment stuff. Had to go into the office, arrange some work here and there, make some phone calls…I didn’t get started with editing till late, and then it was time for us to go and meet a couple high school friends of the Ho’s who were in town for the Jurassic World premier tonight. Luck bastards 😛
That was fun. I think we got along fairly well, and then it was back over the hill to get to work…except that I was feeling rather exhausted, and so I took a nap. I’ve been feeling very fatigued of late, I have to admit. And, not fatigued in a “I might be getting sick” kind of way…no, a “I might be working too much” kind of way. Which sucks, because it’s setting me behind, or perhaps short of my goals.
I shrug that off at this point, however. I’ll just keep pecking away at it, and try to maintain. I will maintain.
The writing has suffered this past week, however, because of the fatigue. Or, these past two days have suffered. That’s something I’ll get back on track with tomorrow. Maybe get a couple extra hours of writing in on these two off-days in a row.
I have a decent amount of stuff to do tomorrow, but I think I’m going to start with cleaning. The floors, after having been cleaned every week for the past two months+ haven’t been cleaned now in…oh, three weeks? Not good. Plus, that always seems to give me momentum for the rest of the day, which I’ll need to get done what I need to get done. Writing, some make-up editing, and some heavy napping. Oh, and some apartment building follow-up stuff. The amount of work from this last move-out…ugh. Let me tell you. Not worth it! But, hey, the apartment’s already been rented, so there’s that.
Tonight’s journal “title” comes rom the day number count. 589 days! For some reason that just struck me tonight. 589 days is a long time. There’s a point where this blog is going to make me feel old 😛 But, I wouldn’t trade that feeling, actually, for how it’s really made me keep track of my time…mark my time, I guess you could say. Take a step back from each day and make an observation on how that time was passed, what I did, what I was thinking. Just the acknowledgement of each day that’s passed in my life somehow makes each day feel more fully lived. Or, perhaps, just more fully *remembered*. I remember so much more about my days than I used to, and it’s no wonder, because I have something tangible to show for each of them.
I’m sitting in bed right now waffling between getting extra work done on my two days off, and just completely taking it easy and resting. It’s the long-run that matters, after all. What use is it to make up a little ground right now if it only depletes me and I fall behind again down the road? I think I can swing it, though, especially if I just break it up, you know? Only let myself sit down for, like, an hour in the morning, and then an hour later in the day. It’ll feel so much less impactful that way. I think it’s a good idea.
That’s all for tonight. A’s lost to the Rangers. We’ve lost 4 straight now after winning four straight. Very disappointing. This team is a disappointment. It’s getting closer and closer now to Beane selling off pieces. We’re not going anywhere this year, so I suppose we might as well…it’s just going to suuuuuuck to lose our good, young players. This season’s failure could spell another dark period like 2008 – 2012. Five agonizing seasons of frustration and mediocrity 😛
But, that’s a topic for another day. Good night!
