I am in the home stretch now, officially…for this month of July…for the summer work extravaganza. 2015 will be the year I made more money than I ever have in my life…and I watched every episode of Star Trek ever made. That is, if I don’t find a PA job before the new year. If I *do*, the Star Trek bit will be more of a challenge πŸ˜›

Would gladly take that, though, for a crack to the inside.

I got some editing done today, solid couple hours of work. I wanted to get more done, had scheduled to get more done, but a few things stood in my way and ate up some morning and afternoon time. Sendbacks, mostly. It’s the end of the month…aka, the most annoying time to be trying to get new work done πŸ˜› There’s always a big push from the reviewing team that checks my work to get videos processed and posted before the period ends, and because I’m so consistent now with a steady stream of videos that need reviewing, they build up quite a bit, and I get a ton of them all at once. That just takes time to sort through, you know? The fixes themselves only ever take 5, maybe 10 minutes…but then it’s the render time and the uploading that really drag everything down. See, unless I’ve checked out a couple videos to work on before I get these sendbacks, they clog up my work queue and I can’t get my hands on any new work until those sendbacks are all completely done.

A window into my life as a contract editor πŸ˜›

I’m coming up on 1,000 videos completed. I believe I’ll be the second or third person to reach that mark in the company. Should be around my birthday, I think. We’ll see. I’m at 940 something right now…August won’t be as many videos as the past couple months, but still, middle of September should be about right.

Anyway, that was my morning and afternoon. Inbetween, at midday, Josh and I went out and played some golf at the Weddington Par-3 down the street. He was the one who reached out and wanted to play this time, which really tells me I think he actually likes to play. Golf isn’t for everyone. It’s hard, and it takes a long time to play…but those are two of the biggest reasons I like it πŸ˜› That and I get to be outside on green grass.

I want to play more golf this winter. Weird statement πŸ˜› I know. But, I do. I haven’t played this year at all. Partly because of working so much, but also because I’ve been saving my money for the past several months to buy an Apple Watch. Golf costs money, yo. But, I want to look into getting some new clubs, I think. A set of irons that I can play with for a long time, anyway. Maybe even help me hit the ball more consistently. To do that, it’s really helpful to figure out what my handicap is…and to do that, I have to play 12 rounds of legit golf. No muligans. With a scorecard. So, I want to do that this fall/winter. It should be fun πŸ™‚

It was great catching up with Joshy-poo. We talked Trek – he’s currently in Enterprise, last season I do believe. I told him he needs to watch Edge of Tomorrow. He told me I need to watch Nightcrawler. We hit balls around. It was a grand ole time. He wrapped principal photography on his feature film, I told him I was just so grateful to be outside since all I’ve done is work this summer. You know, stuff like that. I had some good shots. Couple pars. Shanked a few shots like a motherfucker, too. Consistency will come…some day.

Then, I capped off the night by watching The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, which is on my list because of my pilot I’m currently writing. It wasn’t so directly applicable since it was much more of a cross between a film noir and a western than it was a treasure hunting adventure flick, but it was my favorite of the ones I’ve watched so far. Easily. Really well-made. Acting on point, fun, adventurous, kind of dark actually…it was really good.

Anyway, time for bed. More tomorrow, kiddies. Oh! And, I had a glimmer of an idea about another story to write…no idea what plot would be, but I saw this guy in the McDonald’s parking lot today while taking the pups on a walk, and it was clear he lives in his car, and his character just seemed really clear and vivid in my mind…a story about someone who is at the point where they’re living in their car, eating a cheeseburger in a McDonald’s parking lot watching people watching him…we’ll see what happens with that.

‘Night!
