Colorful artwork tonight from Angus McKie
Work days are always pretty boring to write about…but after a day like yesterday where the self-satisfaction was pretty damn hard to come by, I’ll absolutely take a day like today.
I cruised. I really did. Got all my editing done, got all my writing done, even got to play a little teeny bit of Skyrim and watch the first half hour of 50 shades of gray at the very end. I would have also had a nip of double-oaked Woodford, but I had a bit of a headache all day and it just didn’t seem like a good idea.
The day started off a bit shakey. I was tiiiiired. I knew I was going to be even when I first got up. So…I laid down on the floor of the office after eating breakfast and I took a nap. At the time, it seemed a dubious direction to take; I was going to be starting work a half hour later than usual to accomodate the laziness…but hot damn did it work. I was off to the races after that half-hour snooze! Hit my goals each hour throughout the day! It was a christmas miracle…
I was looking through some photos on facebook of this year. I’d been feeling like all this shit just went by all so quickly, but looking through those photos, I realized I’ve done a shit-ton of stuff this year. Way more than I remembered. That’s the beauty of this blog, I suppose. One of the beauties; that I get this record of what I’ve done and where I’ve been. Keep things in perspective. Document the *actual* passage of time as opposed to the percieved passage.
Liz just reminded me that I went through some “funky” episodes of Voyager today, and yes I did. We’re deep into season 6, that point that every one of these shows go through, except perhaps for DS9, where the most obvious character-driven stories have already played out and they’re beginning to reach more for shit to put on screen, and shit starts to get weird. I don’t mind it, really, it makes for some really entertaining stuff sometimes…but there was a good stretch of this mid-to-late season 6 where we have some real head-scratchers.
That’s all for tonight, guys. I got some great outlining work done on the Icarus pilot. A whole hours’ worth…or about 45 minutes, but that’s about as full of a focused “hour” as I can get out and any one time, so it’s still official. Tomorrow is going to be an “off” day instead of a work day since we have access to a friend from out of town, then it’s back to work on Tuesday.
Life is good, you guys. Even after days like yesterday when everything feels so dramatic and gray…it’s good to be back.
