Success. A good work day, y’all. With writing hour completed just now. Not *quite* a full hour, but fuck it. I sat down and worked on my Icarus outline. It counts, yo, it counts!
Not happy with what I wrote tonight. But, I wrote out the wrong stuff, which means at least soooome of the wrong stuff is out of the way and I can dig myself down to the right stuff. It’s a challenge. For reals. I abhorr dialogue that’s on-the-nose…which is why I can’t write it most of the time. I’d much rather my characters dance around the issue…but it also ocurrs to be that dancing around the issues is just a lazy way to avoid actually pinpointing those very same issues. A lack of speceficity is DEATH in script-writing, and I’m afraid my script still suffers from it.
But I’m working on it, guys. Little by little. Rewrite by rewrite.
Got all my editing done in a reasonable time. Not *quite* on schedule in the end, but I only went over by about a half hour. That’s pretty goddamn good if I do say so myself. 23 full minutes to boot. Not bad at all.
I’m sliding into the middle of Season 7 on Voyager already. Some fun episodes to start of this last season, for reals. During this rewatch, that’s what I’m actually most struck with; Voyager really seemed to front-load their best scripts, and they really tail off towards the end of the season. Like no other show in Trek. DS9 definitely didn’t suffer from that…if anything, the first third of their seasons were the slowest and they picked up steam around the mid-points and barrelled through to the end. TNG was amazingly consistent and scattered throughout their seasons. ie- any given season’s episode at any given time was equally likely to be one of their shitty ones or great.
That’s about all I got tonight, I think…all I did was work today 😛 Life is good.
