OMG, y’all…I typed out tonight’s blog title entry, and realized it’s perfect for TWO reasons, not just that today is day #750, which is 3/4 of the way to the millenium mark…I’m tickled pink.
So, first thing, I got my writing done. Two hours. Full hours, too. Writing on the Trek short story was good for the second session in a row. I need to plan that shit out, yo…get this thing written so I have time to rewrite it in December/January before the contest closes! It’s a competition, for sure, which means I definitely have the chance of writing it for no reason other than the exercise and posting it here for anyone to take a gander…but there’s also a chance I can make it good enough to get published for the first time. That would be a win, yo. For sure.
Yeah, so, did my writing off the top of the day, then I went and ran some errands, including getting down to the Apple store to check out the new iPad Pro…and the pencil aside, which is freaking head and shoulders above any other stylus I’ve ever used…I realized that I don’t think it’s worth the investment. I’d do much better just getting myself a new macbook pro. I can use that for writing AND my editing work. It just makes more sense. So, that’s the direction I’m going in. We’ll see what happens.
See…I *love* writing on my iPad. Freaking love it. It’s so easy to use, never have to worry about battery life, or starting it up, or anything. It’s just on and we go, write write write. But, lately with rewriting, I’ve wanted a few features that the iPad doesn’t offer me, like two windows open at once so I can look at my notes and Final Draft at the same time…or the ability to easily copy and paste stuff. The new iOS copy selecton and paste menus have been particularly frustrating for some reason. It doesn’t always pop up.
If the iPad pro was, like, $600 and the same size as my iPad air, THEN it would be an easy purchase. Totally worth it. But when it’s all said and done, if I were to get an iPad pro, it’d be easily around $900, if not closer to a grand. And that’s with the family & friends discount from our dear friend Argy.
Anyway…a purhcase isn’t imminent, but it is on the horizon out there somewhere soon.
Did that, came home and ate lunch and watched some of Immortals, which I had from the ‘Flix on bluray. Then fed the pups and took a brief nap, and it was already time to walk them. Walked them, and then went grocery shopping. And at the grovery store, I turned all of our household coins, of which we had no less than THREE “piggy” banks, turned all those coins into $114. Cash! Which we got for free because the Amazon gift card we *thought* we were going to get wouldn’t process for some reason, and the coinstar machine was like “sorry, I can’t do that, have some cash then without the service charge.” So that was dope. And the double entendre for tonight’s title, since I was dealing with quarters. I know! I’m a comedy genius.
Then I came home and finished Immortals and ate some freshly-baked baguette (my new crack) and then spent an hour and a half or so playing Skyrim, wherein I BEAT this quest I’d been trying to beat. It was awesome.
I also took a shower and a bit of laundry, and now it’s sleepy time. It’s 12:30am.
Oh! And I also had to do some writing for a half hour on the pilot because I had a stroke of inspiration. Which is definitely the best stroke to have…not that other kind.
Good night!
