It was an odd day off today…I worked for a good chunk of it. I didn’t write for the second day in a row, which hasn’t happened in forever. Probably two months. I don’t think I’ve even missed ONE day in over a month. But, I was behind on my editing work for various reasons, and so I focused my energies on that.
The good news is that I don’t feel tired right now, mentally. I feel fairly refreshed from the day.
I will say this: I really do want to limit my video game playing time to an hour. I played for about an hour 45 tonight, and I feel like I’ve wasted too much time. I could have sat down and done my writing in that extra 45 minutes, so there just seems to be this guilt that comes with playing for any considerable time longer than an hour.
I got almost all my assignments done! That’s a win, considering that what I did today was NOT all Start/End points. Not at all…it was almost perfectly half S/E points, and half finding stills, several of those still finding missions were standalones (the most work of any asset type), and a large chunk of *those* had an error in the workflow which makes them even longer to process. Gah is what all that amounts to. But, I did it. A small chunk is left which should tide me over in the morning if my boss hasn’t got to handing out new assignments yet.
So, that’s a win. If I’d started my morning on time (I slept in a half hour), I’d have done my writing hour first thing like I should have…but I didn’t. A spending a solid 5 to 6 hours of work during the off-day also didn’t help. Those are excuses, though. Which I don’t need to dwell on.
No, I just need to focus on tomorrow and getting my day started off with writing for an hour. Fous on the present.
I finished The Magnificent Seven today, which puts me at…83 movies for the year. I have to watch 17 more before January 1st. Yikes. But I can do it! Come hell or high water, I can do it! The movie was fun, entertaining…I wouldn’t say it impressed me all that much, especially at one particular plot point where the villain of the film just gives them their guns back for no apparent reason that makes sense…but hey. It was 1960. Movies had only been around for 45 years 😛
I will say this: Yul Brynner was a badass. Had a very distinct walk. He was probably trying to do a John Wayne, but it still worked. He was great. So was everyone. It was a fun movie.
Anyway, it’s time for the sleeps. Tomorrow is a work day, and so is Tuesday, so I need my stamina. Wish me luck 😉
