Great day! One of the best Valentine’s Day ever, for reals. And not because we did anything so crazy or cool, but just because it was a really nice full day spent with my wife and my dogs.
So, we drove up to Ventura today, which is on the coast just north-west of the valley. It was pretty warm, and to be honest, Ventura was a little more run-down than I’d expected…BUT…we packed a really nice picnic lunch and the Coops and the Coco were huge hits on the boardwalk. It wasn’t really a boardwalk, just the path that goes around the harbor, but I’m not sure what you call that, so “Boardwalk” it is 😛
Then we drove a bit south, on a whim, just kind of adventuring around, seeing what sites there are to see…and we found this really nice park down on the beach outside Oxnard. Who would have thought Oxnard is nicer than Ventura? Not this guy. THAT was legit awesome. It was a combo foot and bike path that ran along the beach, and we walked a ways with the pups and found a lovely little patch of grass and laid down for a nap. It was actually a pretty damn big piece of grass, but who’s counting?
Then we were back up to Ventura for dinner on the wine patio of this little restaurant called Barrel 33. It was very charming. Food was good, we had SO MUCH BOOZE, and they even made a crackling fire for us and let the Coops and the Coco hang with us while we ate. It was honestly a blast. So much fun.
Even the ride home was fun. We took a different route that avoided all the 101 traffic from people coming back from Santa Barbara, and we listened to this Spotify playlist of a bunch of cover songs. The pups were OUT. Long day for them.
Got home, the bear showered and then we sat down and watched Last Week Tonight which just came back from hiatus, and then the mid-season premier of The Walking Dead, which was also fun.
Damn good Valentine’s Day. I love my wife. Love you bear!
