You make me feel like dancin’…

Blast from the past right thurr. Josh & Ira styles. The following line is “you’re so sweet / I got wings on my feet.”

Man…today was exhausting. Ended spending the entire day, from 7:30am to 3:30pm with the Malik workers as they finished up all the work around my building. 8 hours. Just like that. Was not the plan for these couple days off, let me tell you…but hey, I’ll take it. Would SO MUCH rather have it happen like that on planned off-days as opposed to a day when I was supposed to have done work. It just means I didn’t quite get as much rest as I’d hoped. Oh well. Such is life.

No contests entered today 😛 I think that streak is over for now. And that’s okay. I’m onto my novel. Very excited about that. Very excited to BE a writer, a novelist. Be able to say, “hey, read my book.”

One of the writers I follow posted on his Twitter feed today asking for readers who were interested in signing up to download his book in exchange for leaving him a review on Amazon.com…not a *positive* review per se, just a review. Because the number of reviews a book gets is super, super important in its visibility. I thought that was pretty fucking genius, and so SO simple and straightforward. Call them “advance” readers, get them on a mailing list…let some of them be your champions. There are so SO many people out there publishing books, it can be hard to distinguish one’s self, you know?

Of course you do, you savvy smart little shits.

Worked on getting the Two Guys One Trek social media set up today – we have an Instagram now and a Twitter account. I also updated the Facebook fan page with the new name. That’s mostly just peeps we know anyway, so that was easy. Twitter is another story: we’d used a following program for the Josh & Ira account for a couple years…I think we maxed out around 13,000 followers? 14,000 maybe? Well, that meant following A LOT of people, and I mean to pare that back quite a bit here in the next couple months before we officially launch the podcast. We’re currently following 7,000 people…I think I’d like to trim that down to *maybe* 1,000? Even if it means losing 90% of our followers. We currently sit at like 9,000. Better to have 900 REAL followers than 9,000 fake ones, methinks. But, we’ll see how it goes. I suppose the number of followers is still impressive on some level…

And, man, that was all I had time for today. Watched a bit of the Warriors game while I ate dinner…talked to my moms not the phone whilst I walked the pups…took a nap with the Coco snuggled up against my chin…holy shit that was cute…then the panda came home and we caught up. That was it.

Now…it’s time for the sleeps.

Tonight’s beyond-the-journal-entry thought is pretty simple. Hard to actually accomplish, but very, very simple: excellence takes consistency. If you, dear reader, want to become excellent at something, and I mean really, really good…you must do that thing consistently day-in and day-out. For me, that’s writing. I’ve finally found that routine, starting back in December, I think. Not happening for the past couple weeks, but that has been by design, and furthermore I know that it will always be a struggle to keep myself honest and dedicated…but it is the magical key that unlocks “potential” and “knowledge.” Consistency. Whatever it is you strive for in your life, find a way to do it every single day. It’s how dreams come true.
