Going to do a quick one tonight. It’s almost 12am, and I really, really, really want to get up on time.
It’s late because the Ho and I decided to watch all of Westworld, The Circus, and Last Week Tonight before going to bed. They’re just so addictive! Westworld was underwhelming, to be honest. I’m still interested to see where it goes, but I was definitely expecting it to be much, much more polished. The best way I can describe it is that *usually* when I’m watching a show on HBO, I feel like I’m watching something made by people who are smarter than I am…I didn’t feel that in Westworld. It was clunky, to be honest rather boring in that the pilot was ALL setup and nothing dramatic really happened at all, and it felt like a SyFy channel show with a much bigger budget and name actors…
…and it’s those last two factors that will make me stick with it, most likely. And who knows, perhaps they’ll have figured the show out as they went along and I’ll look back on this first episode or first few episodes and be like, man, they came a long way. We shall see.
