I had an EXCELLENT work day today. Tip top. Jolly good and all that.

I got my 10 pages done for Starstuff. I actually WROTE four of those pages from scratch. New scene. I also realized the benefit of needing to get through a certain quota of pages a day in an allotted time frame…it showed me that I was taking too much time, being too fine on this rewrite pass. I can move along much quicker. Today I did.

See, I still have three more full passes on this beast before I’m done with this rewrite. I can trust that things will be tweaked and fixed throughout that process. It doesn’t all have to be paid attention to here and now. Right now, it’s the big stuff. The chunks.

So…that was awesome. Realizing that was very, very gratifying. And so, I’m back on track.

I was looking ahead at my schedule, and realizing that I have my work cut out for me over these last two months of the year. To put it mildly. I doubt I have a single weekend free…AND I’m trying to get this TG1T podcast situated? WTF was I thinking? Oh, well. 2016 was the year Ira learned that he has to say “no” to things. And the realization was that I have to learn to say “no” to things that I really want to do. That’s the rub of it all…it’s not about saying no to things I don’t want to do – that part is actually easy – it’s turning away from things that would be really, really awesome and fun and rewarding, and saying no to those things as well.

Uuuuggghhhhh.

There just simply aren’t enough hours in the day. That’s really what it is. And I have to accept that. Learn from that. Schedule and say “yes” accordingly.

I’m really, really excited about the apple announcement on Thursday. The prospect of being mobile with my work computer is very, very appealing. I actually think I’ll still mostly write on this here iPad…but the ability to travel with my Flix or narration work is going to be dooooope. Plus, I’m going to also enjoy my new setup in my office with a nice new monitor. We’ll see if they unveil a new Apple monitor (I’m sure they will, 5K probably)…but I’m pretty sure I’m going to prefer going with an ultra-wide instead. 38″. USB-C if I can afford it. Thunderbolt if I can’t.

So, yeah, work: killed it today. Crushed it. Got MORE done than I needed to. And I’m on-pace for narrations as well.

It was just one of those rare, rare days where I had the energy and focus all the way through, and I crushed it. I love these days. I live for these days. It really do myself a disservice by going hard for too many days in a row. This week, I can do the ideal schedule: two days of craziness, then a day of less work, and then two more days of full-stop. Then, the weekend.

That’s all I got for tonight, except that I took a shower. Huzzah. Oh! And I also even got my reading done today, too.

Crushed it.
