I am an uncle.

Today, November 6th 2016, my brother Seth became a father to a baby boy, born in New York. That makes me an uncle. Pretty. Friggin. Huge. Yo.

Congratulations to Seth, and congrats to the boy’s mother Lena. I hope to be a helpful and positive person in this child’s life. I don’t know his name yet, but I do know that he’s family, and family means a lot to me. I will always be there for him, and for you.

I worked today, what else is new? 😛

But, I got everything done I needed to. I’ve caught up from getting behind this past week because of some crossed wires in terms of what my priorities should be. Took a couple extra hours this week because of it (hopefully that’s okay), but I was able to get myself back where I needed to be. And (hopefully) not at the expense of quality. I think what came out looks pretty damn good 🙂

Westworld finally got good. There was some real adventure this episode, some real character pairings and plotlines that made me sit forward in my seat. Finally. Too much setup, man. Don’t waste time getting into the meat of your story, when things get REALLY interesting. That’s what I’m learning.

Which isn’t to say don’t establish the status quo…that is really, really important. Just make sure that the status quo is clearly and concisely interrupted as quickly as friggin possible. Fuck shit up as quickly as you can.

I’m listening right now to Ramin Djawadi, who scores the show. I just learned that he also scores Game of Thrones, which is funny, because I learned that fact by telling the Ho “OMG, the producers of Westworld really went for a GoT vibe for this theme song, didn’t they?” and then she looked at me like I was stupid…because it’s the same guy.

Anyway, right now I’m listening to “Light of the Seven,” which is apparently by far his most popular track on Spotify. It’s really good…at the beginning…and then here at the end, we’ve reached the land of cheap synth strings that make it sound like it was written for Hercules. You know, the one from the 90s. Used to air on, like, Sundays at 5pm after Star Trek, the original series. But…the track started out really good. Djawadi is handy with a piano, that’s for sure.

More work tomorrow. And writing.

Wish me luck, guys. I shall need it. Uncle Ira needs it.
