Twas a work day today. On a Sunday? I know! But, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do, kids.
I have a project for the ‘Flix due tomorrow, and I needed to get a significant chunk of it done today, and I did. It wasn’t quite as much as I thought I’d get, but I do believe it will be sufficient. A fun, quick little project, actually. I’ve enjoyed doing it.
Writing: let’s see…I finished up the space-suit escape sequence today, early this morning, and I love it. I’m sure there is some stuff here and there that needs tweaking, but I was really, really happy this morning when I figured out who needed to what in the scene. Very happy.
We went out to brunch today with a couple friends that we hadn’t seen in a while, Amir and his wife Nina, at this spot in WeHo. I had a chilaquiles breakfast sandwich that was deeeeelish. And a German beer that was also tastyyyyy. We’d seen Amir in a play before christmas (?) along with Melody, and kinda reconnected. Good people. Talked about life, the business, good food. They’d just come back from Costa Rica. Dogs. Theirs is named Joey.
I also napped hard core in the middle of the afternoon…second day in a row. Last week really took it out of me, I guess 😛 New schedules with do that.
Anyway…I do have some interesting bits for tonight’s entry. A couple documentaries on Netflix that y’all should check out that I didn’t know they even had until work today.
First, is Sky Ladder, which is a documentary on this Chinese guy Cai who’s a comtemporary artist who works with explosives. Yes, explosives. That’s how he created his art. Fireworks, stuff like that. You’ve probably seen the viral video of his sky ladder – the ladder of fire that works its way up into the sky – that’s this guy. But holy jesus, some of his work is INCREDIBLE. Seriously. Watch that shit.
Second is a doc called Into the Inferno which is, I believe, Werner Herzog’s latest foray…and JESUS CHRIST you guys, the footage from this movie is mind blowing. I cannot friggin wait to watch it myself (I’ve just been working with clips). It’s about volcanoes, and I believe the people who dare to get close enough to shoot them. Seriously. Tonight’s cover image is taken from that doc. It is a REAL PHOTO. UNALTERED. My friggin face was melting just going through these clips.
Okay…that’s all I got tonight. Tomorrow I’m up at the butt crack of 6:30am to make sure I get my two writing sprints in before I start the ‘ Flix work. Got my pups by my side, the Ho getting ready for work tomorrow…
Life is good.
Night.
