Editing, editing, editing.

You guys, my LIFE is editing right now. Working as one. Hiring one. Doing it for my side project…good lord. So much editing.

Fans of Two Guys One Trek will be happy to know that I’m currently doing my first pass through season 2 and season 3. It’s going to take me a while…and it’s only the FIRST pass (after that comes the actual cutting down of the episodes, removing of various snippets for the opening clips and for promotional purposes, and then a final listen-through for any last tweaks), but it has begun. I’m a week into it, actually, and halfway through the second season.

I’m also soooooo close to finishing this Netflix project. It won’t be tomorrow like I’d hoped, but it will be Friday. And then, I guess, they have some more stuff they’d like me to do, which I’m assuming will happen next week.

And then, finally, I wrote out my “brief” to get quotes from editors who are on Reedsy, which is a marketplace for freelancing publishing work – they seem to be pretty well-vetted there. That was actually fun, and I’m glad I did it. It had kinda been weighing on me for the past few weeks, ever since I realized I had to have the first 3,000 words ready to upload as a sample.

There will be two or three rounds of editing, I think, for Starstuff…which will probably be rather expensive. Sigh. I’m willing to pay the most for the first edit, which will be a line edit – that covers things like clarity, tone, pace, rhythm, style, etc. An edit to polish the actual “prose.” Then, I think it will be two rounds of proofreading from two different proofreaders.

This is all a bit overwhelming in the sense that I’m going to need to scale up whatever it is I do here at some point – as the books start churning out, I’ll need a stable of editors that I can rely on to edit them. So, I guess, let the learning curve begin.

That’s all I have for you guys tonight. Another late one…sigh…but I got a nice nap today, so I think I’m good.

This AMAZING artwork tonight is from the firm of Emerson, Lake, and Palmer.
