The Ho and I went out to see the super bloom today. We can finally show our faces in Trader Joe’s! (Shoutout to Tim for that joke reference)
Apparently, it’s really gorgeous out past Riverside, but that is so friggin far away we decided against ever going out to see it. No thank you. BUT…the Ho discovered that there’s *another* area that’s all lit up with flowers in Antelope Valley – a state park that’s a California poppy sanctuary. And Antelope Valley is only about an hour and a half away. So, that’s where we packed up and went this morning.
It was pretty damn beautiful, guys. I can see why California Poppies are our state flower – they are arrestingly vibrant in color. Deep, deep, deep orange. And during this blooming season, they cover the high desert like splatters of paint. It was really, really cool.
Thinking ahead, like a boss, the Ho had us go out there early which was cluuuuutttcchhhhh because by the time we were ready to leave at around 12:30/1pm, the line to get into the park was a half-mile long. We got in in the span of about 5 minutes. So, that was dope. Got some pretty sweet photos. Took a really cool video that showed how *quiet* it was out there, with just songbirds chirping nearby. It was also, like low-60s with a very gentle breeze. Gorgeous.
Then we came home and got some sammies from our favorite deli down the street and ate lunch together, took a nap together, and then she took off to go have dinner with Aaron and attend a script-reading. I stayed home and did some work, ate dinner, watched a bit of the Warriors game and finished off the night with 45 minutes of Fallout play. I just got to the part of the main quest where I have to find my way through this section of the map called the “Glowing Sea.” It. Is. AWESOME. Super fucking creepy. And hard.
Anywho, the Ho is calling and it’s time for bed anyway.
Night 😉
