The WGA is close to a strike yet again.

Liz and I were here 10 years ago when the last strike happened. I remember working a weekday banquet at Maggiano’s, in fact, and it was a pre-strike WGA strategy session. It was closed-door, so I couldn’t really hear what was going on, but I do remember feeling very awed by it all. I was watching everything from the outside.

This time it’s slightly different – still on the outside, but this time Liz is working on a show in production – production that will shut down if there is a strike. We don’t want that to happen. To be clear: I wholly, completely, and absolutely support the WGA if a strike comes. The talent unions in this town are the only reason, for example, that Liz and I have health insurance right now. I wish there were such thing as a union for indie authors. I’m just hoping a deal is reached tonight and that my wife gets to go into work tomorrow, that’s all.

The deadline is midnight. Reports are all over the place in terms of how it’s going inside the negotiation room.

We’ll see what happens. Sigh.

Today was a bit of a train wreck, at least to start with. But, I rallied somewhat at the end. Didn’t make any progress, really, on the TG1T editing, but I *did* write 1,000 words today on a new short story, and I *did* balance our finances, and I *did* get a ton of apartment stuff taken care of. Hoping for a productive day tomorrow…unless the Ho doesn’t go in for work, in which case I’ll be happy and excited to spend the day with her…

…BECAUSE IT’S HER BIRTHDAY TOMORROW 🙂

Happy Birthday Eve to the love of my life! Can’t wait to celebrate tomorrow with you boo 😉

That’s all for tonight. I am friggin wiped out from what was a very, very hectic day.
