Happy Birthday to the United States of America!
You’ve been good to me, USA. You’ve given me a home, a good job, the freedom to live the way I want to live, and instilled in me the rights of everyone to be treated as an equal. The Ho-Heinichen household is currently celebrating this day of independence by treating the pups to their SECOND Whimzee of the day. I know! Spoiled rotten, those two.
We went up to the roof tonight and watched the fireworks exploding all across the valley. CBS Radford was doing their show, and that was cool to watch…but to be honest…by far the coolest sight was the whole valley to the north of us. It was a never-ending finale, stretching all the way from the 5 to the 405, of bottle rockets going off. I mean, it was NON STOP. And beautiful. Just a constant array of colors and lights and the shudder of the far-off explosions. And good thing it was far away…the pups didn’t even notice it was the 4th.
We went out to Tarzana today and hung out with Dayna and Antoine at Frank Sinatra’s house. Yes, you read that correctly: Frank. Sinatra’s. House. And it definitely hadn’t been updated since the 1960s or 70s. For reals. The pool was nice and cool, the heat was on from ye old sun, and we decided not to drink today so we brought La Croix 😛 very refreshing.
And hey! I’m almost done with Shift, which is the second book set in the “Wool” universe.
K. Off to bed ‘Merica. Back to work tomorrow. Wish me luuuuuck.
