Um…I crushed my word count today. Crrrruuuussshhhheeedddd it. I wrote three thousand one hundred eleven words. I wrote that all out just because the number is more impressive when it’s spelled with letters 🙂
And, to be honest…it was easy. I did it in two hours, and maybe a couple extra minutes.
Now, and here’s the rub: I’m not totally in love with what I wrote. I have not, still, found that rhythm at the keyboard. Alas. BUT…and I’ve been thinking about this a lot today – I’m just going to trust the process. Obviously there’s something still gnawing at me about this book, and I will figure that shit out…but the only way to the other side of that wall, whatever it is, is through. And, through I shall go. Trust. The. Process.
And just keep writing.
So, that was very, very satisfying. I was able to crank out 3,000 words with relative ease, only going slightly over time, and the only thing that I had to skip today because of it (and a shit ton of apartment work) was my workout. So, that’s not all that bad.
I did my writing, my reading, my deliberate practice (which I also have not hit a stride on yet, but I shall persevere), and my narrations…and then, as mentioned previously, a crap ton of apartment work. Oh, and I got to watch the homerun derby for a bit and eat some dinner. That was also very satisfying.
I haven’t talked a lot about baseball this year, and it’s because the A’s are a crap team. They are again going to end up in the bottom 5 teams in the MLB, I think. Which means another set of pretty high draft picks, so that’s good, but still…baseball draft picks are SO hard to predict if they’ll turn out alright. So hard. It seems like maybe 2 or 3 in the 30 first round picks will actually turn out to be solid players, maybe 1 of them a true star, if you average all the draft classes together. So, a top 10 pick is good, but it’s nothing like basketball or football.
So, yeah. Poor Coco has a sock on her foot tonight. She got into a tussle with the Coops today, which hasn’t happened in a really long time, and she got a cut on the pad of her foot. But, she’s fine now. We put some neosporin on it and wrapped it up so she couldn’t lick or chew it, and hopefully it’ll be all healed by tomorrow or maybe the next. We got it cleaned off real quick and bandaged up, so I’d be super surprised if there were any complications.
That’s all the news that’s fit to report. Tomorrow…we plunge back in again. Wish me luck. Man…if I can stick with this routine for the next two work weeks…I’ll be over halfway finished with this novel. And with the outlining that I’ve done to this point, I know that’s possible. Exciting stuff. Very exciting stuff.
Here’s to that!
Tonight’s artwork is from J. C. Park. Stunning. Might pilfer the idea as a setting for my novel 😛
