I have a pup sitting on my legs right now. The Ho is trying to get Coco, the pup in question, to go out and potty, but she’s not moving. Ha!
We had a pretty amazing day at the Hearst Castle today. It really is quite the experience, folks. I highly recommend checking it out. It’s pretty mindblowing to think about the fact that a single person owned and built that place. He owned SEVEN places of similar size, in fact, although this was his favorite and the place he spent the most time at. I know of another place up in Northern California on…the Russian river, I think? A lodge-type place that he built but never finished or really spent much time at. I wonder where the other five spots are.
Okay, Coco finally went out with Liz to go potty. Naughty girl.
Our tour today was of the upstairs suites, which was really a lot of the rooms that guests would stay in when they came to visit, and old Billy Hearst had people over ALL THE TIME. At least in the place’s hay day of the late 20s and the 30s. He got too old in the 40s, apparently, to have guests.
Arg just had the automatic lights turn off on him in the shower. His description of those events is pretty damn funny. He almost fell over.
We also saw giant turkeys on our nighttime walkies today. That was interesting. We steered clear of them. We’d seen them the day before, but they were crossing the road pretty quickly and heading in a direction, ie- not paying attention to us. These ones were just kind of hanging out on the road, looking like a gang of malcontents flicking cigarettes as passers by and ready to rumble at the drop of a hat. So we steered clear.
And THEN one of them freaking FLEW UP INTO A TREE I DID NOT KNOW THEY COULD DO THAT DID YOU? They can fly. Not only do they look like dinosaurs, and they really, really do, but they can FLY. Terrifying.
Tomorrow, we go back home.
Now…we sleep.
