We made it north!
Portland is cold and wet, my brother is here (and soon my parents), and gosh durn it if it doesn’t feel like Christmas. Is it crazy to feel like grey, drizzly weather can be pretty? I definitely don’t miss it ALL the time…but it does make it feel like its actually winter. It’s just so different in LA. This time of year is usually cool at night, between 60s and 70s, and suuuuper super dry. The only thing that makes it really winter-y is that the sun is low in the sky, but it’s still warm and so its just…weird.
Woke up a bit late, which was fine. Took care of the pups, ate some food, and it was time to catch our Lyft to the airport. Driver was great, we made it there right on time when we wanted to, and even though the process to get our bags checked was a bit long in the line department, it was more than made up for in security…
…BECAUSE WE HAVE TSA PRE-CHECK NOW WHA WHAAAAAT.
Seriously…TSA pre-check is the TITS. It’s so much faster. Good lord. We were through security in–no joke–less than five minutes. So dope.
And then we realized that our flight was scheduled to leave 45 minutes after when we thought it was. 😂😂😂
That was probably my bad. I think I was the one who’d said we were leaving earlier and had never double-checked. But, we hung out in the airport with the pups, and had a good time anyway. Flight was super smooth, easy…other side of the cabin got a great view of the Thomas Fire, which is still raging like crazy…and we landed in Portland and got picked up by my brother.
We moseyed on over to our air bnb…which is so, soooo nice, you guys. It’s another two-story place, this one in a loft configuration, and it’s huge, and really well done, and there’s a HOT TUB OUTSIDE…it’s really freaking awesome and the Ho did a great job choosing it!
We checked out the place, unpacked, and then fed and walked the pups. I had a chat with our accountant guy for a hot sec, and then we left to head over to the Pearl district, which is kind of the “downtown” area, at least on the western side of the river, for Portland. We ate at this brewery, which was GD delicious, and then we took JJ home. Did I mention that we picked her up before dinner? Well, we did. And I got to meet her pup, Charlie, who was so SWEET. She nuzzled me and gave me a little kiss. Gah.
So, then we came home and hung out with Scott for a little bit longer, and then we took him home and dropped him off. We’re using their Lexus whilst we’re here. Which is so freaking nice and generous of them. They really don’t have to do that, but Scott insists that they never use it except to go out and do stuff with it when they’re off work, and while we’re here, they’d be doing any of that stuff with us anyway. So…thanks guys. I’m not sure how much we’ll even be using it 🤪
And now…it’s time for the sleeps. Coops must be cold. He’s snuggled right up against me hard core. Liz is next to me looking at how many houses like this tiny one are available in this area. They just don’t have shit like this down in LA. It’s annoying. UIuuuuuuggghhhhh.
Good night!
