Josh and I watched The Motion Picture tonight for Two Guys One Trek…and it was dope.
TMP is not a perfect movie, by ANY means. It can drag. It’s super, super, ultra “cerebral” Star Trek in the geekiest, most this-is-why-star-trek-sucks-and-star-wars-rules kind of way…but that was exactly why we loved it tonight, and why the movie has always had a soft spot in my heart: it’s quintessentially Roddenberry’s Star Trek. I think, aside from what he achieved with The Next Generation, which is an achievement of a very different kind, that The Motion Picture was the pinnacle of Roddenberry-Trek. I watch that movie, and I see Gene achieving everything he wanted to achieve with Star Trek from the very beginning. It was really his vision, properly represented on screen.
Josh enjoyed it, too, but I won’t say anything beyond that. You’ll just have to listen to the podcast when we release it…in, like, 2020 at my current pace of getting this shit together.
Today was a very, very busy day. Stressful at times…but I got so much done today. It felt like the “old” me.
I finished my write and rewrite of Escape From Red Tower.
I organized the questionnaire for my readers, created the ebook, and sent off the email to them.
I did a million hours of building work.
I took care of the dogs.
And I podcasted with Josh. Episode 1 of our 5th season.
Oh, and I discovered this guy named Daigo Hanada, courtesy of the Ho. He really helped me get my writing done today. It was perfect mix of beauty and loneliness. She’s reading reviews right now of his album while we’re side by side in bed. People dig his music 😛
Anywho…it’s really late, and it’s time for bed. Tomorrow is my day off, and I ain’t doin SHIT.
Good night 🙂
