It’s super late right now because we stayed up to watch curling…and the MEN WON THE GOLD. Huge upset. Our previous best showing in the sport was a Bronze medal, like, a million years ago. So, that was awesome!
I also wrote 10,000 new words this week, which is EXACTLY what my goal was. That was so, so satisfying to realize. I *can* do this new schedule. It’s simple. It’s doable. I will get faster at it, and better at it.
Still nervous about this particular setup/conceit in my novel, and making sure it’s justified. I’m just not convinced yet. We’ll see what my beta readers say about it. My gut tells me it needs work, but we’ll see. I’m also nervous about the length I’m at with this first act. It’s a good 20-30 pages longer than I want it to be, and I’m not exaaaactly sure what to cut. Yet. I’ll tackle that once I finish the novel. But, cuts will happen. Certainly.
Pacing is so, soooo important. But, man, it’s also so, SO important to make sure that plot points are justified through your characters, and it can be very tricky to line those two things up.
Sigh. So much angst. This story is a hard one. Lots of moving parts.
Again…we’ll see what the readers say.
That’s all for tonight, guys. Tired. Good week. Not a “kickass” week, but there were some kickass parts, so I’ll take it. I’m starting to be in the zone more than out of it, and that’s progress.
Night, night 😉
