The z’s in the title for tonight’s post are for funk, not for boredom. No, the Oscars tonight actually seemed to have quite a bit to say, actually, even if I personally felt the field was rather thin movie-wise.

The Shape of Water has been deemed the best movie of the year. I liked the movie just fine, which you’d already know if you were reading along with my 100 movies of 2018 (of which I have to write some reviews, damnit! I shall do so this week)…but I definitely didn’t think it was a Best Picture. It’s not even close to Guillermo Del Toro’s best movie, actually–that is pretty universally considered to be Pan’s Labyrinth, which is so freaking beautiful, so freaking haunting, and gd heartbreakingly good. Shape of Water was…sweet. Rather simple. Meh.

But, I’m not pissed it won, let’s put it that way, nor were the movies this year BAD. All of them were pretty good. There just wasn’t a standout for me, at least that I’ve seen yet. No movie for me to yell from the rooftops that you need to run and see it. Tis what it Tis. We move on.

I edited together my vlog for the Smarter Artists Summit for my newsletters tomorrow morning AND got those emails put together. So, if you’re one of my readers, you have a goodie in your inbox in the morning 🙂 I’ll also post the video here below for you to watch right now, should you feel so inspired. I’m so happy with the way it turned out! It’s really the music for me. So satisfying to have your travel life scored to a theme song, you know?

That was pretty much my whole day, beyond doing some laundry and watching the Oscars. Now it’s off to bed. I’m back to work tomorrow, plus it’s rent day.

Nighty night 🙂 What movie was YOUR favorite of 2017?
