Liz helped with the title of tonight’s title. Isn’t it original! 🙂 She also just told me “I lucked out with you,” to which I naturally replied “Ohhhhh yes you did,” like an asshole. Married life is the BEST!
Writing was tough again today, but I finally sat down at around 10pm, which coincidentally is the writing time that I’m trying to develop, and I hammered away for a good hour on this particular scene and why I felt like it wasn’t working. It’s the same scene that I’ve been working on since Monday. Blast! But, it really, really needs to work. Everything that comes after it doesn’t work if this particular scene isn’t convincing and justified. We’re about to go on an adventure, and we need to have very clear feelings about with whom we are going on this adventure with.
And man, I had a break through tonight. It was prompted by something one of my beta readers said — I’d placed a pretty important question in the survey for the last set of chapters I sent them, and it was a question that hopefully didn’t lead them TOO much…but I was asking it because I felt in my bones that one of the story threads I was on was starting to fray, become unstable, and was going to go off the rails because this point we’d reached was unjustified. It would diverge noticeably from this point and irk the reader…but really, it means that the right seeds hadn’t been planted earlier on in the narrative. And it’s a character problem, not a plot problem. And I think I solved it. I hope I did. At the very least, I think what I’m fiddling with will HELP to solve the problem, if not entirely.
I cleaned my office. I set up a facebook group for fans of the Starstuff Universe. THAT was huge. I hope that becomes a thing. The interaction would be amazing.
That’s all for tonight, y’all. I hope you had a good one. I’ll see you in the AM 😉
