Le sigh…
The Warriors might not have the magic this year. They lost again tonight, which puts them down 3-2 in the series. Now, granted, it’s not over. A 3-2 lead is not safe by any stretch of the imagination, even if it were the Warriors with that lead…but they’re just not playing well. They’re not sharp. No dominance. No adjustments.
I really think a very mediocre season has caught up with them. I really do. They say the regular season doesn’t matter…and sometimes it doesn’t. But *this* year, I think it does for the Warriors. They lost sooo many games this year with a lack of killer instinct and focus, and I’m just not convinced they ever got over that. I think it’s part of this years team’s DNA. They lose focus. They lose games they should win. Injuries were ALSO a factor this year as opposed to the utter dominance of last year. Steph is not healthy right now. The last time the Dubs went into a postseason with a less-than-top-shape Curry, they lost in the Finals. They might not even make it that far this year.
But
We
Shall
See.
All I’m saying is that I can see the Warriors losing, and I can also see them winning. Neither will be a surprise to me, and they’ll deserve whatever happens to them. Either way, it’s been a rather frustrating year to watch this team.
Winning a close-out game is the hardest thing to do in professional sports. Your opponent will give you absolutely everything they have. I look forward to seeing what the Warriors have left in the tank, if it’s anything at all.
I had a good day today. Tired, but no floating anxiety. My writing session was lit. I only did one of them, feeling like I needed to recharge a bit. I’m going to go ham tomorrow and over the weekend. This sequence I’m in, I can finish it if I put my nose to the grindstone. That’s the plan.
This book will also hit 95,000 words tomorrow, which was my original target. I’m going to go WAY over that…to the tune of 120-130,000 words, I think, total…but we’ll see. It will be written. FINALLY.
I can’t wait.
Night!
