I just saw a post from an author…they wrote a 60,000-word book in 10 days.
I can do that. Maybe not yet…but, shit…I *can* do that. I’ve written 6,000 words in a day. It’s very, very doable. It’s 4-6 hours of focused writing in a work day. And I can do that for ten days. Maybe a couple days off in there…
It’s stuff like that which blows my mind, seeing the possibilities of what other people are able to do, and realizing that I, too, can do that if I practice.
Writing in such binges like that is very appealing to me since that’s how I like to work most often. Now, at this point in my writing journey, I wouldn’t be *done* with the book in that amount of time. I’d almost certainly be doing some decent rewrites after finishing such a stretch…but gawdam if it doesn’t seem POSSIBLE for me to crank out the rest of my own 60,000-word rewrite in a similar amount of time…
We’ll see. I’m definitely down for stretching myself, but I also recognize I really have to take things one step at a time. If I get ahead of myself, it all starts to fall apart, as I found out last year.
So…here’s to continuing to grow, and to *some day* writing a book in basically 10 days.
I had a pretty lazy day today. I was tired. Still am. Long week. I watched the 1980 version of Flash Gordon–it was terrible, but fascinating and creepy all mixed up into one. I watched the A’s beat the Giants on a night where we broke the Oakland Coliseum attendance record; 56,310 people were at the game tonight. It was dope. And the Ho and I went to Costco. On a SATURDAY. But, we survived.
It was a good day 🙂
