My dog, Coco…she is pressed up against me so hard right now. Uuuuggghhhh. It meeelllttsss meeeeee.
*the part of Ira will now be played by a puddle*
Puddle Ira here. Solid Ira wrote a lot of words today, another 4,000 which was his goal. But, to go on and on about such things is tiresome, and since I am not solid Ira, I won’t bore you to tears.
So…what’s new? Beyond this adorable pup that is currently pressed up against a puddle? Trick question, there is nothing beyond that adorable pup. She is the allthing, the forever cuddle, her with her back of dappled caramel on shining vanilla strands and her ice cream scoop of a head. There is nothing beyond Coco.
For whatever reason, that makes me think of the Cafe at the end of the universe, which I believe was the actual title of one of Douglas MacAdam’s books in the Hitchhiker’s Guide series. Those books are SO GOOD. I’ve never actually read them with my eyes, I realize now.
My first interaction with those books was a worn out paperback cover staring at me with a blue dot in the bottom right to signify it was Science Fiction, and belonged in that section of the library. I never actually checked the book out, though.
My second interaction with those books was discovering the BBC series on VHS in that very same library. They had the whole collection, I think, and me and my brothers watched it together; at first appalled at how cheap it was, and then charmed completely. What with space ships floating in the sky much how bricks don’t, and the earth being a giant computer designed to figure out the meaning of the universe. It was funny, silly, thought-provoking stuff.
My last interaction with those books was to listen to them on tape back in the aughts. So, I guess in that sense, I have “read” them. Stephen King says audiobook listening counts as reading, so I guess I have read them…but sitting here now, I want to read them for real. I never really paid that much attention before. I think that was a mistake…
Anyway…that was random. Have you read Hitchiker’s Guide to the Galaxy before? Have you remembered not to panic, and to always bring your towel?
Off to bed with me. A puddle needs rest, after all…
