Guys. I did it. I survived another year on this planet. Another trip around the sun!

Thank you to everyone for your birthday wishes. They truly mean the world to me.

I had an amazing day. I got to play golf with Nikolai, I got to go have dinner with Liz at Eataly which was amaaaazing, I got to walk the pups with her, too when we got home, and then I got to sit on the couch and watch Goldfinger and part of Thunderball. I love those movies. They have to be watched with the proper criticism, of course (rampant racism, sexism, harassment and assault, etc.), but I do still love them.

I bought a blu ray collection of all the Bond films up to Spectre last year, and it came with digital copies, and so I’ve been watching them on the PS4. It’s silly, because I could just take each of the discs out, but somehow it feels easier to just sit down and watch them either in chunks or back to back with them just sitting there in my digital library. I’m going to watch all of them from beginning to end, and there are a ton of them I haven’t seen, including allll of the Roger Moore films.

It’s fascinating watching these early movies, especially, and how the films get more and more ambitious, polished, and impressive. Thunderball, especially for me so far, is quite the spectacle. It looks expensive, and the script is crackling. Really moves. Stakes are exciting and new; they feel the biggest of the franchise so far, special. Can’t wait to finish it. I think it’s my favorite, but we’ll see. To be honest, Casino Royale is up there for me as the best Bond film of them all.

But.

We.

Shall.

See.

Anyway…it was a really, really amazing lovely birthday. Thanks to my mom for birthin’ me, and to both my mom and dad for raising me. Thanks to my brothers for being such good family. Thanks to Liz and the pups for being my family. And thanks to all my friends for being the rest of my family. I wouldn’t be here without all you guys.

Good night. Here’s to another year!
