Happy Spooky Day, everyone! 🙂
I actually dressed up in costume tonight. For the second year in a row! Last year I was Chip and Liz was Joanna from Fixer Upper. This year I dressed up as Newt Scamander from Fantastic Beasts. Twas a hit. Probably the best costume I’ve ever had, to be honest. It was a clearance purchase from…ThinkGeek, I think? (<– see what I did there? 😂).
It was the trench coat, the vest and the bow tie, good enough quality to be considered “cosplay,” albeit almost certainly the lowest tier of that designation…but still…real enough fabric for me to have some adjustments made so it fit me better. It was a $150 set I got for $40. Can’t beat that. I then just had to add on a shirt, some pants, and shoes, along with the wand I’d bought already and viola…Newt Scamander.
Liz did a paired up costume this year with K-Bear. They went as Killing Eve. Liz was Sandra Oh, the cop, and Kristen was the Russian serial killer. I thought they nailed it.
The day was busy with building stuff. Move outs, emails, invoices, showings, etc. Very busy. But, I did get some work done. Not a ton, but some. Hopefully tomorrow is a little better. I should at least have some time in the evening.
Then, we dressed up and went over the hill to pick up Kristen and we went…to see My Favorite Murder! They were recording live at the Microsoft Theater at LA Live, which is the name of this shop/restaurant/theater complex right next to Staples Center and the LA Convention Center. Apparently, it was the largest live recording of a podcast ever. And it was awesome. I was really a drag-along with Liz and Kristen, but I’ve heard enough of the podcast to know who they were, some of their inside jokes, and the format of the show. They killed it. So good. And we had the swweeeetteeessstttt tickets. Five rows back, front and center, and we got to go up stairs after the show and do a meet-and-greet.
It was a pretty sweet day. Thanks to my bear for getting me into such an awesome experience. I really had a blast.
Next Halloween, I might do Newt again…but this time, Liz will be Niffler. We’ll see.
Good night!
