I killed it today.
Today was probably the most productive day I’ve ever had writing. Close, at least. I worked for 8 hours…well, scratch that, 7 hours with a lunch break of 1 hour…but still. A full-time day. I got through half of my manuscript in that time, writing down notes and edits.
It’s so interesting, but the task of doing that today, going through that many pages, it really, really put into perspective what the size of my novel is…and how it’s really not all that big. It seemed so monstrous before today, so sprawling, and so impossible.
But, today I saw it for what it really is: it’s just a book. It’s not even that long of a book. It’s fixable. And it does have structure. I had an epiphany today about what the first act of the story needs to accomplish; like the number one thing. That is SOLID GOLD.
It’s a relief. And it makes me very, very excited about what I can get done if I can make this my new normal. A 9-5 writer. It sounds insane…in that it’s so simple. Just work an 8-hour day, five days a week. The world becomes my oyster.
I mean, we’ll see how it goes…but I’m excited, you guys. So, soooo excited.
That’s all for tonight. My hands are still dry AF, and I’ve been moisturizing them! Uuuuggghhhh.
