I dunno what to title my entry as tonight. It was quite a day…which is odd to be feeling like, because I truly took it as a day off…
But, let’s see: I watched the film Hereditary today, and that made me think about a lot of things. “Things,” like all over the place kind of stuff. For example: on one hand, the movie was very, very effective and truthful at showing a family dealing with tragic, deeply scary, life-changing grief. That’s something I have personal experience with, and what they were able to show on screen was very…truthful. Unnerving.
But then on the other hand, it really opened my eyes today–for whatever reason, since I’ve definitely heard of them before–to grimoires, and how they’re these spellbooks and lists and stories of demons and angels that were literally written hundreds of years ago…and how freaking COOL that shit is. I mean, I totally get it. I get why there are all these Urban Fantasy writers right now coming up with super cool occult stuff…and it’s super cool because it’s ACTUALLY hundreds of years old, and people used to actually BELIEVE that shit was real.
So fun.
I did laundry. Fresh sheets on the bed. Mmmmmm.
I watched Kiki’s Delivery Service after that. Which was also about witches! Hereditary is *kinda* about witches, but not fully…but Kiki’s was absolutely the opposite of that movie. Delightful. Whimsical. Appropriate for children 😂 To be honest: much more my own storytelling sensibilities.
I got to take a nap. I walked the pups. Watched a bit of the Warriors game after listening to some of it on the walk.
And then we went out and had sushi with Ali and Lizderfer. So, sooo good to see them! For reals. I doubt they read this blog, so I don’t even have to talk nice about them, but I am anyway because they’re two of my favorite people that I’ve ever met through Liz’s various projects.
Good LORD the sushi was amazing. Definitely gonna have to go back to this place again some time. Pricey, but absolutely incredible fish, and really good rice. Yes. Rice. IT MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE OKAY. Bad sushi has tough, super sour rice from cheap vinegar. Good sushi has soft, delicious rice because they use better vinegar.
Anyway, I digress.
Now it’s sleepy time. Gonna get a little work done tomorrow, I think. Got some cleaning to do, some organizing and some planning. Also a movie to watch. Not sure which one yet, but I need to catch up on some flicks! I’m woefully behind on the 100 movie challenge. But…I believe in myself!
Good night 🙂
