One of the most common, oft repeated phrases in the Ho-Heinichen household is “did they have their yum yums?”
Coops and Coco each get a dental treat before bed, which they LOVE. And they love those treats so much, they’ll try to convince Liz and/or myself that they haven’t had one yet, even if they have 😂
For the record: they have had their yum yums. Don’t let them fool you.
I worked today. This one title took me more than half my day. Just one of them. That was frustrating, especially so close to the finish line. But, it is what it is. I have two of them left, and I already have the footage I need to cut them together; it’ll just be a matter of finding music for them and whatever insert shots I might need.
Ie- I can handle it.
Writing…
Well, I was listening to the Story Grid podcast on my way into work and Tim and Shaun were working through some major plot points and markers for the opening of his book…and it just made me realize that’s exactly what I’m working through right now on my rewrite, and that I still had some MAJOR, fundamental motivations and arcs that I haven’t figured out yet.
In particular, what exactly, precisely is the villain’s plan. Because, and I’ve just learned this and it’s absolutely true: in an action story, it’s the villain who drives the action.
So, I sat down and I really worked on that today, for two hours, and it was really, really hard, and surprisingly emotional. I had a gem today, and I think that’s all I really need each day, one gem…I realized for the first time the path I’d set my villain on, what they were actually doing, and how truly horrible and horrific it really was, and how personal it was. Gut-wrenching stuff, and it really did a number on me this morning. Hopefully it does a number on the reader as well, and it will if I do my writing right.
Writing right.
😂
Ending the night on that.
I’ve earned myself a couple days off, y’all. I’m going to take them. I worked for 12 days in a row. Like a boss.
Night!
