It’s official. The Ho-Heinichen household is doing a spring cleaning.

We usually do one each year. Some are bigger than others. This one should be a decently big one. I think we’re actually going to hire someone to help, too. Get the professional sparkle, you know.

It started in earnest about a week ago when Liz got some new curtains and pillow covers. Today, the new rug and coffee table came and hooooly shit. Our living room looks dope.

We’re giving away our old Wii. We’re giving away the surround sound system that it finally becoming outdated. I went behind the TV and cleaned a bunch of stuff up, cables and dust, and power cords.

I also played a bit of the old beat saber, watched the Warriors beat the Timberwolves, and got everything chosen and downloaded that I needed to today. It was a looong day. But a solid day.

I feel close.

Close to finding my groove again. In both projects; Starstuff and Old Glory. That’s the name of the new series by the way, I think. Old Glory. I have to do some searches in the Military SciFi realm to make sure that name’s not already taken, but ya…that’s exciting.

The ideas are starting to coalesce.

Coco had a bit of a relapse today in terms of the tummy problems. We’re positive now that it’s her normal food. Which is good news, actually. It means it’s something easy to swap out and fix. Nothing serious going on inside, you know? She’s just allergic to her food all the sudden.

Writing was good today, too. I’m working out this outline, and working out all the steps I take to actually write a book. Putting it into a checklist so that I can do it the same way every time.

Systems.

Those are the key. Not “discipline.” Discipline will leave all of us right when we need it the most. But systems never leave. They’re always there, ready to help.

On that note, good night. I think I’m going to be able to work from home tomorrow, and I’m going to watch the A’s game out in Japan. Opening Day! Crazy how time flies…
