It was a weird week this week.
First week back from vacay. Just felt like I was out of my routine, which I was. And these last two days working from home were, well, just different, because I wasn’t in the office.
Building was stressful. Yesterday and today. That’s always exhausting, and I was here at home for it, you know? But, mostly, it was just having been gone and getting back into the swing of things.
This is normal. This feeling of uncomfortableness around the routine being messed up. I know this about myself. I’ll be okay 😛
Liz and I watched The Hunger Games tonight for my Story Grid study group. We’re meeting for the first time next week. Looking forward to it.
The movie is…somewhat successful. Liz hated it because she’s read the book and the movie doesn’t measure up (they almost never do, right? Right). I…wasn’t impressed. I’ve seen it before, but I hardly remembered any of it. It was successful in the sense that I liked J-Law, and there were a few of the early pre-games scenes that I thought were actually quite interesting…
…but once the games start, the movie reeaalllyyyy suffers from playing it safe and boring. The PG-13 rating really gutted the life and death stakes of it all. That, and there is absolutely no chemistry (or, they just flat bungled the writing and execution) between her and Hutchison. The love story doesn’t work. At. All.
So, man, if I’m not scared of the prospect of death, and I’m not rooting for the lovers to make it…there’s absolutely nothing for me in the meat of that story, 2/3 of the damn thing.
Way too safe. Way too boring. Bummer.
That’s all I got. Work went good. Podcasting tomorrow with Josh. Gonna try and finish Rum Punch, too.
Wish me luck 😉
