So, yeah…this place is the tits.

We had an absolutely decadent day today. We woke up late, ate breakfast as room service (and the food was delicious, which isn’t always the case, even with the fanciest of hotels), I took another quick nap, and then we spent the rest of the day poolside. Like, damn, right? THAT is vacation.

I think my favorite aspect of this hotel is that it’s really a series of bungalows, and that means these winding paths around the grounds to get to each room, and I just love that shit. Especially at night with the little path lights lit up. It feels like Disneyland.

We went to another tacqueria after the pool and then washing off. This time, we were on the hunt for fish tacos and holy crap was the place that we found amazing. It’s right next to a batting cage, randomly, and their menu is all baseball-inspired. I love it, obviously, but the tacos were actually incredible. The grilled shrimp was my favorite of the three types that I chose.

Came home, walked the pups, then settled into bed and watched most of the rest of the A’s game. We won. Huzzah! We played two games yesterday against Detroit and lost the second game. Detroit is the worst team in baseball, so that was rough. But, we won today. Hopefully we win tomorrow. Three out of four isn’t terrible. I think that would mean we went 6-1 on this homestand, which is exactly the record you want when both the team you’re playing are below-.500 teams.

THEN…we ordered some desserts for room service and we watched the most recent episode of Great British Baking Show, which was amaaaaazing eating sweets and watching them make sweets 😂 The only bummer is the fact that I thought the show had been releasing on Netflix for several weeks now, so we’d have at least a few episodes to get through before we caught up to everyone else. But, alas! They’ve only released two episodes so far! Uuuuugggghhh. It is cool, though, that they’re releasing this season at the same time that it’s airing back in the UK. Love that.

I think this might be the last time we stay here at the El Encanto for a while. It’s gotten prohibitively expensive to stay here. Don’t get me wrong, the rooms are AMAAAAZING, clearly, and the place is a big magical all around…but it’s almost three times the price even of our favorite hotel in Maui, which is unquestionably more magical, so…

This will always be one of our special spots, Liz and I. I hope we get to come back here again sooner as opposed to later.

Pups are asleep. Liz is checking out her phone.

Oh, one last thing I love before I call it a night: how Cooper and Coco bound out the front door and run to the grass that’s right outside our bungalow. They do it with such glee, so excited to be out and ready to go pee and then run back inside. I wish we had that where we lived, a way to let them outside and right onto grass like that. But, not yet. Maybe some day. They also LOOOOVE this bigger bed and the super puffy comforter that they have. So nice to curl up inside and feel cozy, warm and protected.

That’s all from Santa Barbara. Tomorrow, we get up and have one more room service breakfast, then some pool time, and then home.

But, tonight: glorious sleep.

Night!
