I have a favorite writing song. If you want to know what writing feels like for me, the days when the writing is good, listen to “The Gravel Road” by James Newton Howard. That’s what it feels like. Exactly.

It’s from the film The Village, which isn’t all that great. It’s not terrible. But it does kinda rely on a big twist that isn’t really all that satisfying. I will say this for M. Knight: he’s very inventive. Struggles, perhaps, with his endings (except for The Sixth Sense), but his stories are filled to the brim with imagination and often-times unique ideas. I like coming up with that kind of stuff myself, sometimes. Not that I’m comparing my skill to that of someone like M. Knight. I just mean that I see some of the same joy.

Twas a busy day today, filled mostly with Joe and Madhuri’s baby shower. They are two of the people I love most in this world. Truly. I wish we were able to spend as much time together as we used to, but they’ve ratcheted up the life stuff lately, from getting engaged in January of 2018, to married in January of 2019, and now having a baby (shower) in January of 2020.

She’s a girl. Name hasn’t been shared yet, if they’ve decided on one…but I can’t wait to meet her. She has two incredible parents.

Time for me to sleep. I want to get up on time.
