It was an up and down day of the sickness for me today. I woke up feeling pretty much normal; symptoms really lowered, energy levels back…and then I felt back to being sick for the rest of the day…until this evening, when I felt even better.
So…I’m on the mend, I think. I hear—if this even is COVID, which it very well might not be—that symptoms can kind of wax and wane for an extended period of time with this thing, so we. Shall. See.
Watched On Her Majesty’s Secret Service tonight just because I was looking for something to watch, and I did noooottt expect what I saw. It was…epic. It really felt like watching a novel. And they took some risks in the movie, too. Some paid off rather impressively. Others did not. I really just…I was very much taken by surprise by it. I thought it was a failure, honestly, since neither the star nor the director ever did another Bond film, but it is NOT. Not at all.
Easily the most daring Bond film of its time, and one of the better ones made, I think. And doing some reading afterwards, since I was so taken aback by it, I’m not the only one who thinks so. Contemporary evaluations of it have really warmed to it. It’s inspired filmmakers like Christopher Nolan (who took from it wholesale for Inception) and Stephen Soderbergh. I think it was just so different for the time, people didn’t know what to make of it.
Anyway…I highly recommend it. It’s not perfect. But it is quite good. Daring. Different. Mostly effective.
Night 🙂
