My iPad is running on fumes right now, yo. 11% battery life!
Today was another really, really solid day. I got my Netflix work done. I finished listening through the STLV TG1T audio with the exception of the very last episode. Still have to go through and execute my edit notes, but then that project is ready to schedule for posting.
I am really, really proud of how these episodes turned out. Like…big time. They’re a level of podcasting I haven’t done before. WE haven’t done before, Josh and I, in the sense that there’s real-world audio in it. Having Josh Mic’d for the experience of doing the convention for the first time, and editing down and including that audio, plus the sit-downs we did while it was all going on…it’s an amazing audio portrait of what it’s like to attend Star Trek Las Vegas. I really do feel like I’m able to see the experience through Josh. It’s really special. I’m so freaking lucky that he agreed to do that project with me and has been so supportive of getting it out there. It’s really good stuff.
Plus, getting it and the remainder of TG1T out there has been on my to-do list now for two full years. And that’s been killing me. So…here we go. I’m almost there. I’ve been chipping away at it since last fall, stealing an hour here or there to get work done on it, and I’m in the last sprint to the finish line. Finally. Feels good.
Writing was great. All week. Really great. Upping my goal to 2 pages next week. Looking forward to that, and also feeling a bit nervous. But, I crushed it this week on the 1 page per day. I can do the same next week.
Case came in for the DJ setup, which is great, but it’s all self-contained now. Everything we need is in there. That’s so freaking satisfying for me. I didn’t really realize that about myself, how much I like things being neat and contained, until recently. I have a streak of OCD in me in that regard, I guess. The case we got, for example, is specifically molded for the type of controller we have. That brings me immense amounts of joy. It bugs me when it’s not specifically made for what it’s used for. So…that was awesome to get set up. It’s a lot bigger than I’d like it to be, but it’s muuuuch more ergonomically useful. The added height will be so much easier to play on.
Bits of chaos feel like they’re coming to order, slowly, but surely. It’s very, very satisfying.
Finally, we watched Guardians volume 2 tonight, and although it actually ends rather strong, it’s a weak movie overall. Nowhere near the film the first one was. Still…it does end well. It’s another case of the right plot points happen. It’s the connective tissue between them, the dominoes falling to get us there that are missing. I’d say that’s the problem with MOST lackluster movies, actually. It’s not so much that the wrong plot or character decisions are being made, it’s how we set up and paid off those decisions that’s missing.
Those are all my thoughts for tonight, I think. It’s been a really great couple work weeks.
Night!
