I made some friends on Twitch tonight! That was fun 🙂 Played for an hour. Not a particularly great set, but these “exploratorium” sets aren’t supposed to be anything other than just exploring my tracks anyway, ya know?
So…the US is falling apart right now. Protesting and rioting continue. The president says he’s going to deploy the military, which would be declaring martial law. I mean…it’s bad. Really fucking bad.
But, here’s the thing: this isn’t about the looting. It’s not about the property damage. It’s not about the protests. That’s all an attempt to turn the narrative away from what this is ACTUALLY about…and that is racist police killings. Murder. THAT is what this is all about. Everything else—also not okay, certainly—is secondary. For real.
This is about a policeman, sworn to serve and protect, kneeling on a man’s throat until he died.
That’s not okay. That’s the narrative. And I won’t be swayed or distracted into talking about ANYTHING else, because the reason things are so fucking bad right now is that our country refuses to deal with THAT problem.
I don’t know if we’re ever going to get there, guys. I really don’t know.
I enjoyed playing music tonight. Writing and work went well. I live a very privileged, lucky life, and I’m very grateful for that.
Tomorrow, I won’t be playing. I’ll be observing the media blackout.
