To anyone trying and struggling to write a book, or really doing anything creative, here is tried and true advice: just stick with it. Keep going. It will come.
I was really nervous about writing this opening scene again. I liked what I had originally, but it wasn’t quite setting up what came later, so I knew I needed to change it. I had ideas how, but it wasn’t super duper clear. I also knew I didn’t need to get it perfect, but at the same time, I knew I needed to get it close. Close enough for now.
I had doubts I would figure it out. After all, I’ve been struggling with that for a while now with my other stories.
I’m still not there, but damnit, you guys…it’s getting close. It is falling into place. I’m almost finished with this particular rewrite of the scene, and I actually have something I can wrap my brain around, something I can actually polish instead of throw away and start over.
It will come.
Just keep going.
That’s my epiphany for the evening. And my joy at getting one small step closer to having a new book to share with you. Still a ways off! But, getting there.
Work was great today. Super duper productive. Exactly what I needed. Podcasted with J, which was also what I needed. Now…it’s sleep time.
Hope you’re well 😉
