The opening to this new novel is coming together, damnit.

It’s a slow process for me right now. Which I…I was going to say “hate.” But, that’s not true. I don’t hate it. I love it, actually, spending all this time on these scenes, getting them right. Or, at least half of me feels that way. The half of me that’s like ‘no, get this shit right. Get it to the point that you love it.’ The other half of me freaks the fuck out about how long it takes. The other half of me wishes I could do it all faster.

And listen…both are valid. The ‘get it right’ half of me is much, much MORE important to listen to…but I also can’t take forever to write a book. Not if I want to be a professional at it, and I very much do. What I’m counting on is that I’m going to get faster as I get more experience. THAT’S where I send that voice most often: chill. The speed will come. I just need to be patient and continue to put in the work.

We’ll see. Part of why I’m writing this book is to see if I can team up with another writer who DOES write fast…see what tricks and tips I can learn from them.

I’d love to be a prolific writer. LOVE to. I have so many stories I want to write…

But, in the meantime…this novel is coming together quite nicely. Looking forward to sharing it with y’all 🙂

Had a nice Saturday. Packed up a bunch of Star Trek stuff to sell on eBay. Hard to let some of it go, but I really am ready to. I’m keeping all the truly close-to-my-heart stuff. This is extra. Stuff I never use or see. It’s just taking up space. Time to let someone else love and cherish it.

Got to meet Sherilynn Takahashi today. She’s 5 weeks old. Aaron and Marie are just the most adorable parents for the most adorable baby. She’s already getting chubby, and she was super chill while we were there!

Talked to my bro for a little bit. He was chilling in their backyard, which looks so fucking amazing. Can’t wait to visit.

Hung out with Liz tonight while she played Animal Crossing. She’s still out there playing, actually. Getting her island all dope and nice.

Great Saturday. Night!
